THOMAS N. TYRRELL

Mr. Tyrrell is a founder, Managing Director, and a member of the board of Glengary and is Chairman and Managing Director of Glengary Management, the manager of Glengary. Prior to joining Glengary, Mr. Tyrrell was Managing Director of TYLYNE LLC, a specialized consulting firm working with investment groups, closely held corporations and family-owned businesses requiring assistance with acquisition evaluation as well as management support of existing operations.


Mr. Tyrrell's 33-year career in the metals industry included significant turnaround experience. He has been responsible for five start-ups, restarts or consolidations ranging from $250 million to $1.5 billion, partnering directly with investment firms that included Primus Venture Partners, PNC, Warburg-Pincus and The Blackstone Group. In 1988, Mr. Tyrrell won Inc. Magazine's Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Northeast Ohio, and was a national finalist in 1989, for the restart and operation of American Steel & Wire in Cleveland.


Since coming to Cleveland in 1986, Mr. Tyrrell has worked extensively with entrepreneurs and graduate-level entrepreneurial programs at regional colleges and universities. Currently, he is a member of the Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Academic Affairs Committee at Baldwin-Wallace College, Berea, Ohio. He is also Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Elmhurst College, Elmhurst, Illinois. Mr. Tyrrell serves on the NorTech Board of Trustees, the NorTech Technology Leaders Oversight Committee (Chair) and the Cuyahoga Valley Initiative – Organizational Design Collaborative, all major NEO economic development efforts. He recently served as Vice Chairman of the Ohio & Erie Canal Association, an oversight board for the federally funded Ohio & Erie National Heritage Canalway, where he was responsible for leading the development and implementation of the Interpretive, Identity and Signage, and Marketing Plan. He has served on numerous other Cleveland philanthropic organizations, most notably as the Founding Chairman of Business Volunteerism Unlimited.


Mr. Tyrrell received his B.A. in Business Administration from Elmhurst College and has been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Baldwin-Wallace
